Director of HR & OD • £84,000 - £105,000
This is an ideal opportunity for an HR professional with positive experience of leading cultural and organisational change. You’ll provide strong and inspiring leadership and direction to the HR community within the council as we undertake a considerable change programme to create a single, central HR team.
Leading this reorganisation and delivering the council’s People Plan will be the immediate focus for this role – both of which will support the council’s Corporate Plan and the Single Transformation programme, designed to deliver £29m savings. This is a new role within the organisation, with its position on the corporate management team emphasising the importance of an effective people and performance strategy in the council’s plans. We are looking to our staff to be the innovators and creative thinkers that will help the council to continually rethink and evaluate how we work. So attracting, retaining and developing talent is vital to our work, and ensuring the right leadership values and behaviours enable talent to flourish will be key. We want to create an engaged and flexible working environment where employees can thrive and make the best contribution they can.
It’s essential that you have the personal and professional impact to win confidence quickly and that you can influence, negotiate and assure at all levels. You should already have a clear sense of the key attributes that an effective HR function demonstrates, and the practical tools required to deliver change within an organisation.
